What are you using to measure the temp? Is it a temp gun or a digital thermometer, you just want to make sure its accurate. The other suggestion would buy a thermostat. That way you can dial up the temp if needed. I use flex-watt and a thermostat from Big Apple Herp. It works get for all my hondos and balls and I am gonna use it on my blood as well.

The problem is that 65-70 degrees for an ambient room temp IS cold when you're trying to achieve a temperature of 80 degrees within the enclosure.

Could you move the setup to a warmer part of your house?

You might also consider getting a small space heater. I had to get to put an oil filled heaters in front of my rack in the winter time to keep the temps up high enough. I keep my house between 70. Also check for drafts.

he can't use a cermanic heat emitter on a rubbermaid.

dude, get a better thermometer. My house is the same, and I get proper temps with a 5g zoomed uth.

not setting it on the rubbermaid but suspending above it.
