VERY beautiful animals!!!! man those are impressive, lol.
Thanks!,...I'm glad you like those.
I noticed in your previous post, you were holding up a cornsnake, and another one was a photo of a Yellow Ratsnake, very cool indeed.
Here's a couple of pics,....... a Cornsnake, and a Yellow Rat
that I also captured in central Florida back in mid '05 as youngsters.
Actually, the beautiful Cornsnake pic is the same one that is displayed at the top of this "General Forum" web page!,...I was lucky enough to win a place in the photo contest they had recently.......enjoy!
best regards, ~Doug

Jason,....Yep!,....you spelled it right!..LOL
And that was actually an imported Mandarin from waaaay back around the mid eighties!,....a good friend of mine owned it for a few years before selling him to me. I owned him for many years and later sold him. Back then all that were available were imports, and they had an EXTREMELY high fatality rate due to an overly excessive high stress factor, and heavy parasite loads. This combination would all too often kill the snake soon after captivity, many times within just days after acquiring them, no matter how experienced the keeper, in what seemed very ideal conditions. Even with cooler temps, and hiding places within humid mulch, duplicating conditions in southern China.
I even went through several others trying to find a female for him.......wild-caught Mandarins are truly seem to be one of the most highly stressed snakes there are, at least as far as colubrids go.
He did very well for me, and preferred smaller helpless fuzzies that weren't quite walking around. he would only eat them if I was totally motionless, or just left them(mostly in total darkness). If I remained absolutely motionless, I could many times watch him go up to the fuzzies and eat them one after another, live without any constriction. He would gulp them down with incredible speed too!.
Anyhow, I'm glad you liked his photo,....I wish I still had that dude!
Happy Holidays!
