Eye Caps

Stuntmanmike Dec 22, 2007 05:29 PM

Hello Everyone,
Just to let everyone know that since I've taken the advice I learned here my Ball is getting back to being a people-person! My new question involves eyecaps. It's really dry where I live (Phoenix, Arizona) and I have most of the top covered up on my Balls home, but sometimes it's tough to keep up the humidity. It looks like the eye caps are stuck on my snake after it's last shed, what's the best way to help the snake remove them?

Thanks,
Mike

I have heard that masking tape will work to pull the eye cap off. I have never tried it.
Once I had it happen. I soaked her in a tub(with vent holes) of warm(85-90F) water about a inch or two in the tub covered it and in about a half hour took her out and was able to lift the edge of the retained eyecap with my fingernail.
A Q-tip might work also.
hope this helps.

Masking tape may work, but I would be too wary because it is really adhesive. I have used a loop of scotch tape in the past and it always works -- just touch it to the eye cap (make SURE it is actually a retained eye cap first), and it should come right off like a contact lens.

Pink Lady Constrictors

I give them a nice sauna soak- a warm wet towel in a storage tote with vent holes and a heat pad- about 87 degrees...

Then i rub them with the wet towel that was inside and if that doesn't work- i use human eye drops- not medicated or anything, just like for people with dry eyes, and i use a q-tip.
