Needless to say, he's in his dark phase. LOL

Compared to light phase...

Pretty extreme eh.

That is some drastic change. The crazy part is that it is a hot boa either way. Most boas have a definate phase where they look there best. I can't decide which one I like best with that boa. Great specimine!

Yep! I know what you mean. His future girlfriend is like that. Looks much better in her light phase IMO. Her dark phase is somewhat charcoaly looking. Takes away from her color a bit.

Thanks!

He is ain't he. I think once I get me a few more Colombian mutations to work with, I'm gonna concentrate on these litte insular Boas for a while. Something about them. Many don't see it, but there are so many differences between these guys and Colombians. And I don't just mean their minute size either. Like having something completely new.

Neat stuff for sure!
Thanks Tom!

Better than any damn corn snake alive. Although, I can't wait to get some Corn Island Boas to see if they do the same thing, and to what degree. My Hog changes a lot too, but nothing like these guys. LOL

Thanks for the comps!

Rick,

No offense intended, I was just being stupid. Hope you get the Corn Islands soon so you can compare color change. Also, how's that Hog Island rescue doing?

Thanks,
Ed

Nah, I didn't take offense at all. No worries mate!

You mean Cochina, this girl here?

She's doing great. Got rid of the bugs and mites, and Vet cleared her. Went and cleaned her cage today. She's going into a shed right now, just beginning to haze over. Probably by next weekend she'll shed. 2 more months of quarantine, and she can come home. Pretty cool eh.

Now to find her a man with the same tail stripe going on.

Great story. I hope you find a good mate for her, she deserves it! BTW, how long will the quarantine period be? Six months?

Thanks for the pics,
Ed

Ophidia_Junkie Dec 24, 2007 10:40 AM

Yeah, in this case, 6 months. I have kept them over there for more than a year in some cases though. Mostly depends on the animal, and what the testing reveals. In this case, nothing serious came up, and she's eating and hydrating well, etc.

I too hope to find the right male for her. She's a nice looking classic example of a Hog.

Thanks!
Rick
