I was just thinking, this year we haven't gotten any of the "can a leopard gecko survive in a shoebox for a week so I can surprise my child on christmas morning?"

Not that I'm complaining in any way, shape, or form just thought xmas was really close and we hadn't seen the usual posts that make you groan.

Anyways, happy Solstice tonight and all other holidays everyone! Wish I had my holiday gecko photos handy to upload, I just realized how old those photos are in my account! Yikes!

I was pleasantly musing about that myself recently. I'm thinking perhaps we'll see a huge surge of kids posting- leo won't eat, etc. come Jan. And leos are now on the downswing of the spike they had in popularity several years ago. I'm seeing the upsurge in BPs now.

Ugh, I suppose it comes and goes like fashion huh? Well, good luck on keeping up with the BP questions, I'm staying out of it. In fact, while not really related we here hoping my boyfriend's brother's pair of rainbow boas (male bought, female rescued last year thanks to Herp Society) continue to not like each other "in that way" because he'd keep every last one and they already can't handle the geckos they've got.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking thoughts like this... I was actually surprised it hadn't switched over to crested since they are becoming extra common in pet stores, but if it is the year of the snake, good luck to you.

Oh no, I think you got the wrong idea- I'm sticking my leos lol. I just seem to be noticing that balls are being the "hot new exotic" these days. I myself have one, by way of a leo trade, and a BRB as well. They also seem to be gaining popularity now. But yeah, there are trends in the herp industry. Kinda like fashion, but they seem to last several years, rather than the 3-12 months in the fashion industry.

Ah, I thought maybe you were answering those dreaded questions on the BP board here.

To be honest, we are hoping to buy a house soon and then we have agreed to expand our collection by one new baby. Since that is at least a year away, we have been having lots of fun arguing what it should be. Ironically, I'm the one who can't make up her mind, he wants a leachie. (I do not want to deal with that much poo...)

I have gone through 2 month research phases of newts, uros, tortoises, viper geckos, and recently frog eyed geckos. Then I see a baby leo and my heart melts... I'm too soft, but they are just soooo cute! I don't think I'll be much swayed by the industry when it comes down to it. But it is interesting to pay attention to.

lmao! I have a huge list of "stuff to get when I can finally buy a house"- first of all being a dog. Tortoise I think may also be on that list, along with a couple corn snakes, a monitor (also on the rise nowadays), a taiwan beauty snake, a mouse colony, let me stop.....
