hatchling housing question

Buffysmom Dec 23, 2007 02:34 PM

I've hatched out 5 babies recently I've housed three together who were born about 2 weeks apart. Two more hatched out about 45 days after the first. Can I house them all together, or should they be seperated? There's hiding areas in the houses.

I would expect that the ones born 45 days later would be significantly smaller, and would thus get bullied by the older/larger ones. I would keep them separately just to be safe.

Yeah, they're about 1/2 the size of the other ones. I have them seperated, but thought I'd ask folks' opinions on the matter. Thanks

agreed and also, babies are especially vulnerable to tail nips from cagemates, food competition, etc. while they are growing. best to house singly or in pairs in kritter keeper type enclosures until they have been established and so that you can keep a close eye on shedding problems and make sure everyone is eating, etc. also, never house geckos with a 3 gram or more size difference together.
