We have another business but most all of our profits go to the turtles. We have some friends that after seeing what we do have made donations.

Very cool. I have been thinking of starting a bona fide turtle rescue organization. If you don't mind, what State are you in? I have such a hard time remember where everyone is from.

Thanks.

Hi Ken,
We are just west of you in the hard state for turtles and the DNR is no help. I got started when I found out the DNR took the turtles, that people brought in from roads to the pound to be "put down".
In three years we have gotten 21 with only a couple being able to be returned to their wild homes. We also have a 91% save rate with the injured. We had almost 3000.00 dollars donated and I made up the other 4000.00 this year. I also do many hours of "labor of love for them". The first year was the most costly but after stef helped me with the first turtle I was hooked for life.
Ken I always enjoy your posts and observations and have even printed some off the site for further reference.

Thanks for the reply. You are doing a great thing, and it sounds like you have been very successful. I have been trying to find rescues operating near me, and I thought you were closer. I'd rather refer people to an established rescue than start an official one myself. At least I will know where to refer people in your State

Thank you for the compliment. It is very nice of you. I am glad that I could help you.

I thought I was the only one to do that with little stockings, lol! Thanks for sharing.

Best of luck to you and your turtles in 2008 and beyond. This wish goes out to everyone!
