New Breeder Question.

CHpitt Dec 24, 2007 02:08 PM

Hi guys, i just had a behavioral question regarding the courting habit of corns, I put my pair together recently and they are moving in a very jerky motion, especially the male, i haven't bred snakes before so i was just wondering what this movement meant.

Normally when you put to together they do this movement, I don't think it means for sure they are breeding because I house 2 females together and they will do this, However if the male persists with the jerking and attempts to get on the females back and wrap his tail with hers then yes that is breeding, I think its fairly normal when you put 2 Corns together.

Many types of snakes will exhibit jerky movements when placed togather. It doesn't necessarily indicate breeding behavior. It's unlikely that the snakes will breed at this time of the year unless they've been artificially light and/or temperature cycled. Most snakes are hibernating at this time of the year.
