brand new iguana owner.

so maybe i'm just overtly worried about my little dude (named gitsimus maxiums the prophet of gnar). i read up on everything on these here internets and did everything by the book....i just brought him home yesterday and he's hardly moved. is this normal? he's just hanging out not really doing much. i read that i should let him be for a few days so he can get used to his new place.
i just need some more experienced iguana owners to let me know it's all good.
thanks.

Congrats on your new pal. I miss having an iguana quite a lot, but don't have the space for an adult at the moment.

Iguanas are not super active lizards really. They bask, they hang out, the eat a lot, they poop, they sleep.

Just make sure he's warm enough (too cold will slow any reptile down) and that you give him some time to settle down. Don't handle him too much either - work that into your routine slowly.

My iguana (who now lives with a friend with better space) was not handled much and had free roam of his own room eventually (which they need) and he still just basked most of the day. I had perches next to windows as well so he could look out and he'd move around those a bit in the summer to get a different view.

They are an incredibly "aware" lizard.

*sigh* I so do miss Junior.
