I am looking to upgrade a few more thermostats.
I am looking at Johnson Controls, RANCO, and possibly Spyder Electronics.

I would love to hear what any of you have for experience with any of these products (or other products you think are worth looking into).

I am also looking for a better temperature “alarm system”…. Like one that will call me, e-mail me and/or text me if the temperatures get out of a set range or if the power goes off. (Even better would be where I can check the temps online or call to see what temperatures the different probes are at).

I am looking into a few products, BUT would love to hear what you guys (and Gals) have to say.

It will be my NEW YEARS gift to myself, and I want the best out there.
Thanks for any input…

Hey Bryan,

Happy Holidays to you as well!

I've only owned one thermostat, and I've only had it for a few months, but so far I'm happy with my Johnson Controls t-stat. I have the A-419 with night drop feature, got it for about $100.

I work for a company that makes wireless CPU modules that would allow for internet connection, text messaging, etc. So I'm curious, have do any of the thermostats you looked at actually have such capability??

Thanks,
Ed

I am using 2 ND Herstats and 1 Herpstat along with 2 Rancos on power strips. I really like the Herpstats ND, but since they are my first porportional thermostat I really don't have anything to compare it to expect the 2 Ranco's. I have had 1 Nd HS fail and neither of the Ranco's have done this although they are both at least 3 years older. I will buy another Spyder product soon however. LMK what you find ...maybe need one too.

Hey Bryan, Happy holidays to you and yours as well!!!!!

I can't speak to the alarming features/functions. I do have two types of T-stats, Helix DBS1000 and Herpstat PRO. I do like them both but really like the Herpstat Pro!! Very cool unit, four channels and all the bells and whistles I like. program temps up and down, built in adjustable night drop as well.

Thanks for the X-mas wishes, and right back at ya!

As for the thermostats, I have only used the Helix ones. I really like them, but I doubt you could find one with all the features you are looking for. Sorry I can't be of more help!

I use the Herpstat's and really like them. They have a tons of options that I do not use - and they are very easy to set-up. I Herpstat Pro with 4 units shouldn't tkae more than 10 min. to get going.
