sad morning

superdave1781 Dec 26, 2007 09:48 AM

We were gone all weekend visiting family for Christmas, and didn't get home until late last night. I checked on all my pets and everyone seemed fine, but when I looked this morning, the room smelled stranged and I found my amel corn Morgan Le Fay dead This really saddens me as she was my favorite one of all. She was only about 4 and a half years old, so I feel this wasn't something natural, that I caused it. Did I feed her too much or something else? I gave her a bath about a month (or more) ago and it must of been too warm cause she went into shock or something and became completely limp...I thought I lost her then, but every few moments she would tense back up and move, and the time between movements became less and less and she pulled through it. I was worried about the cause of that, but I think it was from the water being too warm. I was worried about any long term health problems that it could of caused. And then I found her this morning. She wasn't curled up in her hide, rather she looked like it happened mid-stride while zig-zagging crossing the cage. She wasn't roled over on her back or anything, but it looked like she had stuffed her mouth full of bedding (aspen shavings). What would make her do this? Any opinions on cause and/or ways to prevent this will be greatly appreciated.

I am sorry for your loss.
It almost sounds like your snake suffered from seizures. Without a necropsy, there is a chance you may never know. A lot of the times, even with one, its hard to tell.

Been there. Sorry for your lose. It seems odd to some people how you can get attached to a reptile. No not a dog, to pet or fetch a stick. But you recall, funny feeds, maybe seeing it in a cage in an odd position. Someones reaction to it.

Point is, YES you can get attached to a herp..

Again, sorry for your lose.
