no longer eats tomato

chelonian71 Dec 26, 2007 01:32 PM

Well, I admit, I have not been doing a terribly good job feeded my little three-toed (a little more than a year old).... he/she stopped eating almost altogether for a while, and before than the turtle would some tomato before some worm or worm-like food. Well, just lately I thought it had been too long since the tomatoes, time to give the turtle slices of grap tomato again.

But he/she ignores it!.... no interest. Then I plop in the large meal worms, and the turtle enthusiastically eats them.

well, did feed the little fella a slice of grape tomato Sat. Today I fed the little turtle when I had little time, so didn't bother to put in a slice of tomato first.

Sounds like your turtle is trying to become a fincky eater. Best to prepare it the mixture of several foods at meal time and not feed him one itme at a time. Chop up grape, or peach, kiwi or other fruit, grate carrots, sweet potato or green beans and mix with copped earthworms, pill bugs or waxworms and feed the mixture to the turtle once every other day. Even hatchlings can become picky eaters if they are over fed or learn to hold out for what they like best. They quickly learn they can "make" you give them what they want.
