I bought the last two remaining of these guys. What do you think. He doesn't believe they are Ivory, but a similar mutation. I couldn't pass them up.

I saw the ad to and wondered how they were not what has been sold as "ivory"? Perhaps they have color plastrons? And ivories are consistent?

Let us know.

I was pretty sure that a pure Ivory was considered an albino.

teepee Aug 26, 2003 12:59 PM

Ivory is not a true albino, but a variant form of that gene. These are probably another variant similar to the ivory. The price was right, so I took a chance. I will let everyone know what I think after I get my hands on them in person. they look nice nonetheless.

Congrats on the baby torts. I saw the ad for these lil guys but I don't recall how much the guy was selling them for? Will be interested to read your thoughts on them once you receive them!

Hi, I am wondering if the mutation sulcata tortoise will look the same if they grow older ?

teepee Aug 26, 2003 01:02 PM

I asked about this, but he never got this color before, and therefore has not kept any to see. Since I am a regular here, I will update regularly with photos. The price was almost what someone would charge for a normal, so I didn't pass them up.

Do you happen to know what the eyes look like? I think the Ivory tortoises have blue eyes. It's been a while since I've seen them so I'm not 100% sure.
