The Beauty of Snakes in HDTV

EddieF Dec 26, 2007 09:51 PM

Have you guys seen this amazing show in high def? Incredible photography of all sorts of stunning snakes. Mambas, sidewinders, just amazing stuff in HD. Look for it, I believe it was Discovery Channel HD. But the name of it is the Beauty of Snakes, so if you can search by title, I highly recommend it.

I've seen that show several times now - it is better in HD.

The photography is excellent, with some unusual shots (e.g, from below a glass table), imaginative lighting, and great close-ups. The sound is neat too, it isn't often one can hear a tongue-flick!

I found the narration and some of the soundtrack a bit, well...perhaps "over-dramatic" would be appropriate. Not unexpected, given the show wants to appeal to a wider audience then just snake/herp fans.

There are a few factual errors, and places where the narration doesn't quite fit the images. But far less than one becomes accustomed to from the average "Nature-Show-Doing-Snakes" drivel.

Overall, I give it an A-minus, certainly worth watching.
