Do they (GTP) all ...

mavh2 Dec 27, 2007 09:26 AM

New to this fourm.

Do all the GTP change to green regardless of the starting color?

A pet store was telling me he had a GTP that was yellow and it would stay yellow. He then told me all of the colored GTP would change to green unless you invest in the genetics that would keep the color (red, yellow, or orange).

Are GTP the same thing as Chondro (not sure of the spelling)?

Welcome.

No.

They are correct. Some bloodlines will stay yellow as adults. When designer genetics come into play, there are many many different looks that can be acquired......yellow, blue, black, ect. Here are a few examples:
Captive Bred '03

Captive Bred '03

Captive Bred '04

Captive Bred '06

Captive Bred '06

sorry for the small pic.
Import 2002

There are many other fine examples in other collections. Some that are solid blue and some nearly solid black. I can almost guarantee you will not get these results by purchasing import captive hatched babies.....99.999999% The bloodline is key and price can reflect that.

Enjoy.

Yes. GTP and Chondro are the same thing.

You sure have some killer Chondro's Brandon!!

I bred GTP's for a few years and then sold off my breeding group about 5 years ago.. At that time i had 13 adults and a bunch of younger animals that I was raising up, and I still kick myself for selling some of them..

Recently, I have been thinking about picking up a couple.. I may need to give you a call!!

A Great '08 to all!!

Thanks Mike! When you feel like taking the plunge again, let me konw. If I don't have what you're looking for, I'll send you in the right direction. I'm sure my wife would love to get some of your GBKs. I wouldn't mind having some of your anerys myself.

Good luck with the season.

Some will stay their neonate color, but most turn to green or some variation of green.

Yes, chondro is another name for GTP.

Some will stay their neo color?

No... In the event that a Chondro "stays yellow" it is actually a different color of yellow... Sounds kind of petty, but there is a noticeable difference in every single changed animal I have seen, to include the Canary's...
Also, I do not know of a single red, orange or brown Chondro anywhere in the world, someday, but not yet...

Shiloh, I was thinking the same thing, but you beat me to it. I'm sure they were thinking yellow to yellow. But I agree, the yellow color is much more rich in the adults.

The male is showing no interest in breeding. The female is refusing food and looking a little "different". And the male has also begun feeding......but I'm not getting my hopes up.
