Safe to assume that our gators a male?

DawnOfTheDragon Dec 28, 2007 06:01 AM

This is the first time that me and my partner have used the "popping technique" (or any technique for that matter) to sex a younger crocodilian.
Jason usually uses his finger (minds out of the gutter please) to sex the crocodilians when they are just a bit larger.
Anyone experienced with using this technique enough to tell us if we did it right or not? We believe 'Goldie' to be a male. Could what we are seeing be the clitoris though?
Thanks,
- Dawn

That to me looks like a female. Although, with the photo, it's a little hard to tell. That appears to be the cliteropenis which is usually small, but with a sharp point. The penis of a male is longer, tubular and with a bulbous point.

Hope that helps,

Chris
