Removing stuck eyecap (one method)

zefdin Dec 29, 2007 03:09 PM

You can remove a stuck eyecap by taking a piece of tape (something like masking or scotch NOT the real sticky stuff like duct tape) and rolling it sticky side outwards around your finger. You can then gently roll the tape over the stuck eyecap and it should stick to the tape and pull off. You want to be abosolutely sure that it is in fact a stuck eyecap first before using this method.

Soak a cotton swab in water and roll it at the edge of the eye cap. No risk of damage.

Try misting the snake's head as if it had just been through a torentual(sp) down poor. Then place the snake in a pillow case that has been soaked in luke warm water. Tye the snake in the bag for about 15 minutes. The snake will most likely start crawling around in the wet bag thus abrasively removing his own stuck eye cap.

Good luck.

I agree with this method. Any time I have a stuck eye cap or bad shed (thankfully few and far between) the damp pillowcase is the way I go.
