NBC2 (Fort Myers, Florida) 28 December 07 Woman shoved into snake cage during domestic dispute
Lee County: A woman was pushed into a snake's cage Thursday during a domestic dispute involving her children.
Deputies say they were called to a home on Pebble Beach Road around 8 a.m.
When authorities arrived they made contact with the suspect, 15-year-old April Burleson.
She told them she didn't remember anything about the fight.
Moments later deputies found April's mother, Donna Burleson, in a bedroom. She was on the floor crying and complaining that she couldn't move.
Donna told investigators that two of her children, April and Robert DeJohn, got into a verbal altercation. She said she tried to break up the fight, but at some point April growled at her and then shoved her into an aquarium that contained a pet snake.
During the fall she injured her hip. Donna was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Deputies searched the home as part of their investigation and found two illegal prescription pills that allegedly belonged to April.
April Burleson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and domestic battery. She was then transported to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center.
Paperboy note: The posting above is my choice for the year's 'most alarmist - least relevant to herps' headline. Notwithstanding the real import of domestic violence and the implications of this particular case, what do you want to bet that the lady was pushed against the side of and possibly reached into a ball python/corn snake tank while steadying herself?
