rbchesapeakeball Dec 30, 2007 12:37 PM

I know this is ot, but I know there are some fishermen and women that will appreciate these pics. We caught these last night in the Chesapeake Bay, Cape Charles Va. I caught the big one, 48.5 inches and 44.55 pounds

Thanks,

It's been a while since I have been out on the Chesapeake Bay! They sure do run big in the winter... what was the weight and length on that monster?

Congrats,
Oz

Hey Oz,

It was 48.5 inches and 44.55 pounds, we were drifting live eels in the shipping channel off of Cape Charles, Va.

I met and talked to you and Tom at the show in Chantilly for a short time, but had to get back to our table.

I live just up the road from Cape Charles. The fishing is good but the herps are amazing!

My snakes aren't fat, they're big boned.

The copperheads in this area are northern/southern intergrades. I love em too!

Nice catch, that was a good day!

royalkreationz Dec 31, 2007 01:58 PM

Thanks,
We caught that from about 8 until just shortly after noon. We brought home about 80lbs. of meat. Interesting fact you might try next time you clean fish. If yo put the filets in a gallon plastic bag until it is full, they will hold about 10lbs. of filets. That's how we guage roughly how much fish we have to cook.

Blue cats are the best eating cat fish. The meat is powder white when rinsed. Also, they do not smell as bad as regular catfish when cooked.

i've been out 3 times in the past 6 weeks and all i caught were chest high waders full of water! scary when you get knocked under and friggin cold... got a nice pen reel and ten foot shakespeare rod for xmas.

am i the only one that fishes for northern pike? gotta know how to clean them - taste far better than bass or walleye. but then i love bluefish too...
