Hi everyone... as some of you may know I recently found out that my male Ornate is actually a female. I am quite embarrassed that I did not realize this on my own my her size and coloring.
Luciana (as i now call her instead of Luca) turned 3 in Sept and weighs in the area of 350 grams. She is 12" long.
I guess I have done a ok job of raising her since she was 7 months old. She appears to be a very healthy active Uro with a good appetite. Temps are good and she is housed in a 40 gallon breeder.
My actual question is... now that I know she is female is there anything different I should be doing care wise? I am especially concerned about eggs - being produced, bound or laying. From reading other posts over the past year I see that a Uro that has never been exposed to male can produce eggs. This is something I have never paid attention to - and did not want to deal with but this is my reality now. This little girl is my only Uro and she means the world to me so her best care is in my interest.
I assume she is old enough to lay eggs and that it would happen in the late spring-early fall.
Any advice would be apprectiated
Thnx and Happy New Year
