Hi,

Im wondering if its possible to import snakes from australia. A friend of mine has a pair of CB black heads that he no longer can keep. what are some of the steps we'd have to take to get them shipped.

Isn't going to happen... legally, anyway.

Australia has a very strict import/export ban of all fauna, and I think has for the last 30 years or so.

since 98' I've been asking about Perenties (V. Gianteus), from australia, on Kingsnake. Everytime I do I get laughed at. But I still keep asking. So DON'T GIVE UP THE FIGHT.

that sucks, because i COULD HAVE basically got the snakes for free, I'd just need to pay for the shipping expense =(

Some of the guys on one of the Aussie site I visit said that there is a way to do it but it is very strict and involves a ton of paper work. I don't remember the stipulations but I am sure being a professional facility like a zoo or museum is going to be one of the things involved.

Jason is correct. It can't be done by private individuals. It CAN be done through institutions, and there are US animals in Australia. I think there are already a few rough-scaled pythons in this country, legally.
