I hate Pieds.

RyanT Dec 31, 2007 03:25 AM

I already know that NOBODY agrees with me but I was just browsing the classifieds at 4AM and felt like writing down what I think everytime I see a pied. They've always been my absolute least favorite morph. The only ones that are even slightly attractive are the extreme low white ones with actual pattern, and even those aren't something I'd ever spend money on. I know they're the pinnacle of the base recessives, but I don't get it. They look ridiculous. Like something threw up on an ivory or lucy. Can't see myself ever having or wanting one in my collection. Just my own unpopular opinion.

That's ok. They're still my favorite morph and have been since day one. I'll have another pied to go with my others. Have fun!

i absolutely love that pied you have and must say you take some of the nicest photos on king snake. happy new years!!

Brandon Osborne Dec 31, 2007 12:05 PM

Thank you very much! Believe me though, it's the camera. Although I have an eye for a great photo, I don't have a clue when it comes to getting the photo. But I do appreciate the kind words.

It's a male I produced in '05 and he's around 1000-1200 grams depending on the time of year. He's getting things done right now. I just hope his girls get their end done. Thanks for the compliments.

At first I didn't like them either, but the more that I looked at them the grew on me. I don't know if their price "made me " NOT like them or not. Anyway, you are certainly entitled to your opinion of them. I almost bought one this year, but it was spoken for when i contacted the breeder.

But aren't we all in this hobby?

You're definately in the minority!

I think they are REALLY interesting, but the other morphs look better. To me pieds and paradox are interesting odd balls, but I wouldn't want to own them. They actually look worse than the other morphs. Although I have to say, if the super cinny pied is black and white that will be awesome.

jonf Dec 31, 2007 10:28 AM

their popularity and potential though. We all respect your opinion. Thats whats cool about BP's. This was one of the first BP morphs on the scene and 10 years later we're just starting to tap into the combos.

I don't deny their popularity, just repectfully disagree from the consensus.

You know - I didn't care for them much either - then they kinda of grew on me and I bought a few - my husband hated pieds as well - thought they looked mutilated - but now our low white pied girl is his favorite of our snakes. Go figure.

I didn't like them originally either. My husband thought they were great, and still does. I thought they looked like someone poured a bottle of bleach on them. I have come around and appreciate them, but still prefer the low white. If our pastel het pied male and het pied female do their thing... we will hopefully have at least a pied or maybe even a pastel pied in the collection.

Take care.

I hatched out my first clutch this year and they were by far the most fun watching come out of the eggs. Unlike all the other morphs out there each Pied is completely different. I've got a trio of Bumblebees and couldn't tell you which was which if you pulled them from their tubs but I know each Pied by looking at it. I've got a decent sized collection and 'normal' Pieds are still on of my favorites.

Those are georgeous snakes. I do appreciate the fact you can tell them all apart. They were my first favorite, and I always have a special love of them, but corals and bumblebees are amazing.

jyohe Dec 31, 2007 05:02 PM

I disagree, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I have loved them from the first time I laid eyes on them.

Dave763 Dec 31, 2007 06:22 PM

Pieds are awesome. I have a het female. I want to add a nice high white male to my collection this year.
Can't believe you really don't like them. Oh well,to each his own,or better...beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
