My anoles eye!!! help!!

geckoluver101 Aug 25, 2003 08:11 PM

For every one that saw or has been following my post on my anoles eye. Today after i posted below i seperated my female (the one that is sick) from my male. Me and my dad looked at her eye and saw the skin grown over it. It looked all dead so we decided to cut it off so she could see. We cut it off and it started gushing blood. After it stopped we realized her eye wasn't there or it was deflated and was sunk down in her head. Now it looks like it's there just totally blind. After we handled her and put her back in the cage she didn't move at all and usually she will not stop moving. This happened around 4:45pm and she just started moving around. When i say just starting i mean she only moved to under a piece of bark. What should i doo???!!!! I really need help!! Katie

I would take her to the vet as soon as I could. She's obviously uncomfortable and likely in pain. I have no idea what the problem is - but the vet should be able to help.

Poor thing - I hope she heals, even if the eye is gone.

Is there a regular vet? Maybe you could call and see if they can help - maybe they can give you an antibiotic or something to keep it from getting worse or spreading. I don't know if they would agree to look at her, but there's probably no harm in calling to ask.

I'm glad she's moving around a little more. Good luck!

Yea, I asked my reg vet if they did reptiles and he said the sight of a frog makes him want to pray to the porcelin god lol!!! I have been putting terramicin on which is a antibiotic for eyes and it seems to get alittle better. I'll call and see if there is any antibiotic that works on lizards too. Thanx 4 the help, Katie
