I was cleaning out my grey-banded king's cage yesterday when I found a small bug almost like a beetle. I've seen them before in his cage (one of the reasons why I was cleaning his cage) they just seem to only want to drown themselves in his water bowl.
So my question is this, does anyone know where these things are coming from? My corn snake's cage is not infected and it's in the same room. Also my bearded dragons are fine. Are the bugs in the substrate from the bag? I use Crushed English Walnut Shells and a small amount of aspen for my grey-banded kingsnake. The corn snake has a substrate made of shredded coconut fibers.
I have a photo of the bug, but I do not know how to post a photo without it being in the kingsnake.com photo gallery. The bug looks like the pieces of the substrate.
