Too much humidity?

abccba Jan 01, 2008 12:54 AM

I'm getting my new rack set up. The humidity in the tubs is 80%. This would be great if they were in shed. I was just wondering, why is too much humidity bad? What type of problems does it cause?

Too much humidity MAY cause a respiratory infection, skin issues (Did you know snakes can get pruny like people can? Looks just like a snake does when it's dehydrated....), and bacterial growth in the cage, but... if the tub is dry, and the snake isn't sitting on damp bedding, that high of humidity shouldn't be too much of an issue.

How are you checking the humidity, by the way? I've found that a lot of times, humidity gauges aren't very accurate.
