Hey ?!?!?!

Why don't we have a float in the Rose Parade?

Just something simple yet beautiful depicting the snakes of the world - maybe have Brian (BHB) riding up front with a couple of fancy morphs - Perhaps have Bob with Fluffy wrapped around the float and of course Crotalus supplying the accompanying music! I think we could do it!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

you know I am still surprised the larger breeders out there don't run tv adds nationally. heck here in florida the daytona, tampa and FIRE expos get zero state wide tv advertisement. Everyone talks about exposure but those that have the ability and can gain from this don't do it, hmmmmm. Hopefully in a year or 2 we will have enough of a variety that an add like this will be able to pay-off. But then again, is it feasible to pay several thousand dollars(just an example I'm sure it would cost alot more) for a commercial spot to run for a few weeks on the animal planet?

Even better, Kev, Brian, Dan, or someone else should contact ad agencies, with pics of the nicest looking Balls. Agencies are always looking for animals with commerical value.

a few things.....

First, snakes and reptiles in general are still looked down upon and it's kind of a fine line between exposure and putting reptiles directly in peoples face. Take for instance the float idea. I first read it and thought "wow" thats a great idea! Everyone watches that parade on TV, that would work! But then I thought, well......aren't we always advising against bringing your snakes/reptiles out in public for the sake of show? So you'd somehow have to find that happy medium where it's educational or something like that it could be done tastefully I think.......

Second, not to bring up the large thread from a week ago about customer service but, in regards to advertising....As we can tell from the thread, its plain and simple......some (not all - big and small breeders alike)do not have the time nor do they want new customers. In my opinion, the ones who wouldn't take the time to call or email back would surely not spend time and money on advertising. In regards to the shows, I'm from Florida myself and like you said, they are poorly promoted/advertised on a larger level. We know about them because its what we do......but the only exposure the general public gets is when they are reading the newspaper article on Monday after the show!

I thought it was quite sad when we were in daytona eating and our waitress came up and saw our shirts. She asked us if we had just opened a store since she really like snakes and had a few of her own. When we told her we were at "THE SHOW" she looked confused and asked what show? Now this was someone who was local and had money to spend and knew absolutely nothing about the largest reptile show in the world, now that was crazy.

wonder what it would cost? and how .....

....if anyone would want to pay for it......people would donate cash for the float from all over...

.........maybe it could be a block long float shaped like a huge snake

a giant bumblebee bp made out of white, yellow and black roses. We could get snake-girl to be our queen of the parade, lol.

a bee was what I thought of first also......so it must be the pic........

.....see who comes up with the cash.......the manpower....

......LLL ? T-Rex ? ......Pro Exotics?.......

God I hope it ain't one of the so-called "big boys"......LOL..............think about it.......

really...it would be sweet to have snakes represented......a bee would be a good subject.....NO live snakes on the float at all actually...just flower ones.......and big pics......

NOONE will ever do it though.......maybe, just maybe National Geographic could do it...or Discovery Channel........Animal Planet.......we'd all have to contribute to a TV show to help them pay for it.....
