Nocturnal Infrared Heat Lamps

ILoveReptiles Aug 25, 2003 08:26 PM

I have a Zoo Med Infrared Heat Lamp for heating my iguana cage at night. I live in a dorm at college and I needed some sort of heat source for the night. The thing is, my iguana never seems to sleep now. The first night with the light she did, but now it seems whenever I check on her at night her eyes are open. I think she hates the red light. Will she get used to it or will it just keep bothering her? Should i try a human heating pad?

How about a ceramic heat emitter? They put off heat but no light and last for years if you don't drop it.

Try a CHE. They emit no light. Your ig has a paretial eye that is always open. The red light may be keeping him awake. We have a blue night light on in Iggi's bedroom. It doesn't seem to keep her awake. We use heating pads, supplimented by a CHE in the winter. We also cover her with a baby blanket at night, to keep in the heat.
