Off Topic: Texas Alligator Lizards ?'s

nixr Jan 01, 2008 04:05 PM

Apologies in advance for the off topic post! I was just wondering if there is anyone here that is currently working with Gerrhonotus liocephalus infernalis? Also, what is the current status of this species in Texas? Are they protected at the state level?

Thanks,
Rob Nixon

I've bred them casually (a couple times) in the past, and Ron Tremper and I are working with a small group right now. Hope to hatch some out next Spring.

I believe they are on the "white list" at this point. they are super cool animals-very calm if captive hatched, and grow to quite an impressive size.

That's cool Shannon-perhaps we can swap bloodlines in the future. We have animals originating both from here in the Boerne area and from near Austin.
