Question about Housing Veiled Cham outside...

ChicoB Aug 25, 2003 08:32 PM

Hi Everyone thanks for looking at my post!
My question is this. I live in N Cali where it gets pretty hot during the days around this time of year. I plan on buying an adult Veiled Cham from a friend of mine. I would like to keep the Cham on my back porch in the shade. My concern is that i would not beable to keep the enclousure very cool because it gets to about 95 degrees F at mid day. According to my book its a bad idea to keep veiled Chams in temps above 88 degrees. If i hooked up an ultra sonic mister and had it go on every 15-30 minutes for 15 minutes at a time or so. Do you think this would keep the Cham cool enough to be happy? Hes going into a 24x24x48 in screen enclousure. I could turn a fan on him too if that would help. If anyone has any ideas on cooling the cage they would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi!
You mentioned 95-is that in the shade? if so then yes a misting system would be required. I think that would be enough though, no need for a fan. You can set up a misting system by using a automated sprinkler control, with the sprinkler attached to a hose. The cool water from the hose will lower the temp.
