Heating Vision Cages

KevMadden Jan 02, 2008 08:55 PM

For those of you that have vision cages (4 - 6 feet in lenght) how do you heat the cages? Has anyone put 11" flexwatt heat tape between the two cages for belly heat? Would that work? I was thinking about three feet of 11" flexwatt tape under each cage.

Any suggestions or recommendations welcome.

Thanks

We have used 11" heat tape with the 4' Visions, run front to back at one end, with a Helix. Worked fine.

11 inch flex watt tape from front to back is the way to go.

Brian,

I noticed you didn't worry about seperating the cages in your pictures. I guess you are not concerned about then over heating if the helix went down?? My biggest concern would be burning my house down

What would you suggest he do?

I'm not sure if he is doing anything wrong. I have just heard to put space between the cages. I was asking the question about heating because I really don't know what is best.

thanks

I use all visions except for one cage. I have three foot cages that I used the red night heat lights for and the temps stay in the high 80's to low 90's for the males.
The females I keep in the 4 foot visions and I use 11" flex watt front to back on one side and now in the winter I also use a heat bulb with a hood to keep the cage heat up a little. I put the hood in the middle of the cage so there is still a hot and cool side.
