Cycling boas....

lateralis Jan 03, 2008 11:41 AM

Howdy boa gurus, I have a pair of longis and a pair of imperator that I am hoping to breed this year. They have been placed together off and on for the past month but I have not seen any courting. Temps are getting into the low/mid 70's during the day and dropping to 68-69 during the evening. They have a basking area that ranges from 84-90 depending upon where they lay. Any thoughts on temps or other factors?? These animals are all over 4 years old and in excellent health. I mainly work with colubrids and heloderma so I thought I would come to the source and ask around some. Thanks in advance!

longi's mature later then most some will breed at 4 but most take 5-6 years for the females to mature. they also tend to breed late spring most of my longi breedings happen mid to late jan earl feb.

Hi Micah, nice looking longi you have there! So, do temps and such sound about right to you? I was thinking of bringing temps back up in about a month or so (I usually warm things up around Valentines day). Im pretty much in the dark when it comes to breeding boas so any other advice will be appreciated.

Hey thanks Micah, I'll let you know how things go. My pair are an unrelated set of animals from Harding lines. Female looks like the animal you posted last, male is very close in appearance to the animal that I believe Russo used to have.

I really hope these guys pair up some day, they should produce some nice babies.
