hatchling cage ideas

df92484 Jan 03, 2008 07:19 PM

Hi everybody, I had a quick question about hatchlings. I am looking at having my first clutch of eggs hatch in a little more than a month (give or take), and I was thinking about using gallon mason jars for them initially and then upgrading them to five gallon tanks when they get bigger. Does anybody out there have any other suggestions?

Plastic storage boxes they sell at the discount stores are usually a good choice. We don't personally breed, but they are our emergency transport boxes and I know many breeders that use them. You can find all sizes and shapes and even taller ones these days. Easy to sanitize and only requires a bit of punching or drilling air holes. sturdy and cheap, especially this time of year will all the christmas storage on sale.
