Hypo Question

EmberBall Jan 04, 2008 02:39 PM

Has anyone done breedings with a known line of hypo, and different colored females, and noted the results. For instance, you have a nice orange ghost male, Bell line, Nerd line...and you breed that male to a light colored normal and a dark normal, and eventually produce Ghosts from each, that look different from the original male, based on the look of each normal female? Can you improve the line of ghost, by breeding select females?

ive wondered the same thing. a friend of mine bought two hets from me, unrelated orange ghosts. one was jet black with orange markings and the other was more brown with tan markings. hopefully next year we will find out. my bet is on the black orange girl throwing more contrasting hypos, while the other girl gives lighter colored babies. just a guess though.

Gulf coast did this with the citrus ghosts which is why they are soooo bright. They are compatible with the NERD orange complex but look totally different. They bred them into a high gold/high contrast line of "normal" and even the hets look great.

I am working on that now,I have hets from a very orange normal female bred to an orange ghost, hopeing to enhance the orange ghost even more. Also have a citrus ghost male since they were proven compatable with the other lines. The ghosts are one of my favorites.Terry
