Stand for something,
or you'll fall for anything!
hybridzation takes place with snake more often than you might think. they usually get absorbed back into one or the other spp.
FR recently made a post of the many hybrid rattlesnakes that he found and some that looked partially hybrid . Meaning they breed back and then you see some slighly confusing specimens.
I bet most cornsnakes commonly breed with other ratsnakes. but that is not really a true hybrid like the gopher/king. That is probably more of a rarity. But if it happens in nature it is natural... Natural meaning no human intervention.

I also see ugly looking cornsnakes from time to time in central and south Florida. They are darker, with remnants of four dark longitudinal lines. No doubt gene-flow from good ol' "quadrivittata" and further south, although much less abundant, possible influence from the Everglades Ratsnake(rossalleni).

I also see ugly looking people from time to time in central and south Florida. They are darker when they get a tan but most are pale white. No doubt gene-flow comes from the yanks and southerners.
