Ovulation?

MandN Jan 04, 2008 10:22 PM

Just wanted to share some pics of her. She has been like this for about a week now and she has not eaten in about 2 months. I have seen ovulation before, but not like this. This seems too centralized, but I just wanted to get others' opinions. Thanks in advance to all that may reply.

Looks pretty good to me, if she sheds within the next few weeks, then aven better. Is the male now ignoring her?

Monty:

Female snakes always look their best when they are gravid and I'd say yours is primed to win a beauty contest.

Good luck with her and thanks for sharing.

That looks like either a "Pre-Ovulation Swell" or a gravid snake. Gravid Boas often look like that too. She is obviously dedicating a huge amount of recourses to those puppies. See how she looks flaccid? Very wide and soft looking. Really relaxed looking? That is the classic "Pre-Ovulation Swell" type apperance. Since this Motley is carrying a proportionately large litter, that soft relaxed look is really obvious. This is often times difficult to photograph because it is much more subtle, but what that female is doing is anything but subtle. Ovulation is more rigid looking. Tense like flexing. I think you are going to see that massive flexing of ovulation soon though. Very soon. Good luck!
