Age old breeding question and others for Jeff Clark and rest....

laurachel Aug 25, 2003 10:09 PM

Hey,

I used to be on the old rainbow boas forum but my computer crashed and I lost the site and was out of things for awhile. Is that site still up? This one is great! I live in Jacksonville, FL and the temperatures are just starting to slightly cool (not today!). Anyway, I used to have all these cool sites saved about breeding rainbow boas and I lost them and I know this question gets asked 100's of times, but what must I do to prep for breeding? I keep my collection in the garage and the temps will naturally cool---should I not turn on the heat pads? What about light, it's always dark in there... I have a partition between the two in a large cage...when to remove?

Thanks you guys and Jeff it's great to see you in this biz for such a long haul, it's really your whole life!

Peace,

Stevo

Stevo,
. I think cooling temperatures for breeding Rainbows depends on the temperatures in your garage and cage. If your garage temps during the winter will stay in the 60s most of the time cooling there should work. Some years I have put males and females together during cooling and some years I have waited until after cooling. I am not sure which is best.
. I have been keeping and breeding snakes for a long time. The Rainbow Boas have been my favorite snakes for the last 15 years. But, Rainbow Boas are just one of my many interests. I spend time kayaking and hiking each week and even occasionally go to work. My other hobby with lots of internet emphasis is collecting Randall Made Knives.
Good to see you on the forums again,
Jeff
