Thanks for showing a really nice animal, Doug.
.
I've always been partial to the east/central Florida Yellows because many (not all) loose all signs of blotches, can get bright yellow, and generally have clear, well-defined stripes.
My favorite was in a vacant lot in Sanford!

Thanks for the compliment Bill!

I agree with you on that,......almost twenty years ago, I caught an insanely bright yellow, gorgeous Yellow Rat only a few miles from the one I had posted. Man, I wish I had a photo of it to show you,....she was a real beauty!

I sold her to a guy in my old herp society, where she thrived and produced many clutches.

Do you have some shots of some nice ones from the Brevard area? if so, I'd like to see them!

best regards, ~Doug

Doug, man that brings back old chilhood memeroys for me. When I was about 11 or so my Momther purchased a killer little yellow rat for me for my b-day.I had it about 9 years and then one day it had escaped never to be seen again.I was just sick.
I also got a (27 inch cause they sold them by the inch then LOL..)FL. King.I had that snake for 23 years and it was probably about 2 or 3 years old when purchased.Man I miss that snake.

I hear ya buddy!.......I was also lucky as a young kid, and my mom bought me killer snakes for my birthday, and Christmas!

She had a friend that lived in Homestead in Miami/Dade County area and her husband would catch awesome Miami phase corns, brooksi, Yellow Rats, Indigos, Scarlet Kings, etc... and would sell my mom some now and then to give to me as presents......
needless to say,...I didn't mind un-wrapping a cage with a six foot Indigo inside it!...LOL.......those were truly the good ol' days!

Well my parents separated when I was young. My mother was OK with snakes but was not exactly down with quantities of them. My father on the hand hated snakes............BUT.........he bought me them constantly to drive my mother nuts! HAHA! Tom Stevens

what was his name....around what time period was it????

DMong Jan 06, 2008 11:41 AM

Well,....I'm pretty sure the lady friend of my mom was Barbara Anderson, I have no clue whatsoever what the name of her husband was though. The phenomenal part of this is that I can even remember HER name!,.....as this was in the late 60's early 70's.

I was only at their house one or two times, and we lived in Ft.Lauderdale, so I wouldn't be able to say exactly where they lived either, I only tagged along as a dumb kid!..LOL

What is REALLY funny, is the fact that I brought this up to my mom about two years ago prior to her passing away, and I asked her about those friends of hers that lived down there,....she told me she lost contact with them decades ago. They were dog show friends of my mom's, as my mom was VERY well known in the "dog world" for all her many champions she bred and showed over the decades.

Sweet! That thing has a gold tint to it. It's certainly one of the best ones I've seen - I would have kept it too.

I still have that nice lookin' dude, I captured him on 4/10/05, the one I still wish I had was a female I caught almost twenty years ago in the same area,....she was the most vividly yellow colored individual I've EVER seen in my entire life, and the one I don't have a photo of...GRRR!!

Thanks for the compliment Tim,...glad you like him!
