SUNSHINE IS A MOM!

minicopilot Jan 05, 2008 09:17 AM

I haven't been paying much attention to my snakes lately and was seriously considering selling them. I was thinking that exact thought while getting ready to feed and clean them and I look into Sunshines enclosure and see what appeared to be a huge piece of uric acid OR an egg. Not expecting anything more than pee and poop to clean I looked closer and found Sunshine wrapped around 13 big eggs! She must have passed them last night or this a.m.
It's been a few years since I had to hatch out YT eggs and I'm apprehensive just like I was before! LOL
I'm using the vermiculite in a tupperware with holes in the side method. These will be glowing yellow snakes! I have one more female that I'm waiting on to lay!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ME!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the support guys! Dan, I can't get over how that snake has grown! Thankfully he hasn't tagged you in 2 years! LOL He'd mess you up hard at that size! Any YT breeding at your place?

bob, i had my yt's together for 2 months straight & saw copulation twice but i'm not sure if it took yet. she doesn't look preggers to me. my unicolor is about to burst though. yeah, it was 2 years ago this month that charger got out & was living behind the water heater for a couple days. like an idiot, i reached back and grabbed him barehanded. at that point, he copped a 'tude & practically tore my left ring finger off. & the h*ll of it was, i had to go wrap my hand but he was still out & i still had to reach back & grab him again! i was finding & cleaning up blood for a week after that. it was a seriously bad move but i'm almost used to my prosthetic hand now. haha! good luck lad & keep in touch. ttyl......dannio

Dan, I remember when that happened!!! He messed you up! Regarding the YTs, I didn't know my snake was carrying eggs at all prior to finding them in the cage. I thought she looked solid from eating well, but she didn't look lumpy or excessively thick.
I hope all your snakes drop lots of eggs!
Good to hear from you and I hope all is well.

excellent stuff Bobby. Not enough YT's out there. Hopefully you'll have a bunch of golden beauties for us to pick from

Thank you Doug. So far the eggs look good. I'm hoping a second female I have will give me some more eggs!
I'll keep everyone posted.

Bobby, do you have 1.2 breeders or 2.2 or more? I am hoping this is my year and a yt pair would be an obvious choice for me!

I have a few pairs and I'm not sure if any of the others hooked up although, I do have a female in shed now that is looking thick, but we'll have to wait and see. I never watch them to see if they hook up, but when I'm in their room and I look in on them I never seen any breeding activity with my YTs, ever. They must like their privacy! I'm hoping after the second girl sheds she drops lots of eggs!

Candled the eggs today and all look good!
