Neonate diet question

cmservice Jan 05, 2008 10:16 AM

I just purchased my first bloods/STs(specifly BSTs) at a local show. I have read that STs can easily become obese and should only be fed every two weeks. I'm thinking that applies to adults and I probably should feed these every wk along with my balls, am I correct? Current wts are 65, 103, & 115 gms. If correct, at what size should I cut them back to 1 1/2 wks and then to 2wks

Thanks
CM

It will depend on the prey. At that size, jumbo mice weekly is fine then around 200 grams kick them up to small rats or bigger. Even as hatchlings I feed every 10-14 days but I don't push grown on mine. Weekly is fine for up to six months and pre-breeding conditioning of females in the fall. Aside from that, again every two weeks or so, depending on food size. My oldest, biggest borneos (5.5ft feed on Jumbo rats once every 2-3 weeks during the year excluding pre-breeding conditioning, then females get an extra 6-8 meals).
