Red Headed Krait:

This character looks painted but it's the real deal. Fuzzy rodent eater about 3 feet long.

Nice picture. Those are great looking snakes. Are they natural rodent eaters or did that take some work?

very nice animal.. how did you get him to switch to rodents instead of snakes?? I had a chance to get one last year but due to their diet I didn´t take it home...

In my experience it's not that unusual for Red-Headed krait's to accept rodents. To me these guys are pretty cobra like in terms of their attitude. The biggest problem is getting a good one to start with. Their high strung and often rub their noses raw , all that crap. They don't make good rehab candidates. If they get beat up during the whole collection, holding and shipping process a lot of times it's to much for them to over come . Not to mention when guys try to hit them with various parasite medications right off the bat. If you start out with one that's in good shape give it plenty of water and some tight hiding places there's a chance it might do alright. Again I have to stress the importance that the animal is in decent condition ( hydrated, not all banged up etc.) to begin with. This is the same basic formula that holds true for many nervous hard to acclimate species.
