problem with Hogg Island boa

plasticmullet Jan 05, 2008 02:55 PM

He's got three hard spots on his body, on the sides. They started off as puffy areas, now they are hard discolored areas. I put neosporin on them, not sure it's doing much. The areas are about one maybe two inches long...no blood or anything. He is also now refusing to eat...it's been three weeks. Before, he was a great eater. Any thoughts or is it vet time?

hard spots like lumps or hard spots like scabed over skin? is it hard near the tail end?

Hard spots like scabbed-over skin. Tail area is fine, the spots are all in the mid section, on his side.

what is your heat source? almost sounds like it could be a burn.

I thought about that, it's 75W lamp above the cage by at least four inches. Would the snake just sit there and let itself become burned like that?

size of tank and what is directly under it?

Yes they will, its the reason heat rocks should be banned.
