Growth rates, what is normal?

laurachel Aug 25, 2003 10:22 PM

Hey,

Have a pair of 3 year old ball pythons, what size should they be? I have brazillian rainbow boas and Hog Islands that I bought the same time as babies that have just blown the balls away, each eclipsing 4 1/2 feet. The ball, however, don't seem to want to eat as regularly and have grown slowly, from babies to still well under 3 feet. They are feeding well now (1 live rat every 2-3 wks), so should I increase feedings? They seem to be in great health. I know the feedings should be closer together but there are times when they wont eat for weeks!

Thanks!

Stevo

There is a graph that I found helpful in "The Ball Python Manual". It details mass over time.

Keep in mind that this is considered above normal. But it's still a good guideline.
