Quick, probably stupid question...

RalphSnakeMan Aug 25, 2003 10:23 PM

After handling my newly aquired Carpet Python for over an hour today (I know I shouldn't be handling him this long since he's newly aquired but he seemed "calm" and fine with it) he went to the bathroom on me, I am assuming it was because he didn't want to be handled anymore but most of my snakes only go to the bathroom on me or musk me when i first pick them up is this common practice with these snakes, or just a fluke accident?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You get those muscles working for a while, and you sqeeze stuff out. Your other snakes who musk you when you first pick them up are probably doing it defensively. I doubt, however, that your carpet has these intentions.

I never thought about it that way but thats a really good point! He was getting quite a workout moving about my arm and hand too. I too doubt he was doing it defensively my other snakes on the other hand are a whole nother story lol.
