Walter Smith Jan 06, 2008 01:16 PM

I guess he would be considered a "low end" Extreme??

If you look at the snakes eyes in good lighting and the eyes are not deep ruby-red, as well as some other criteria, then it really doesn't fit the category of "extreme". Many so-called "extremes" in the hobby would be better named "ultra-light" hypos for individuals that aren't quite extreme. As you say, it can sometimes be a close judgement call.

In any case, lighting can be VERY deceptive when it comes to photographing snakes, and in bad lighting, even an outstanding "extreme" can be fairly hard to discern.

That is a great looking animal Walter, whatever the case may be.

Also, I'd like to say,.....you have some KILLER looking cornsnakes that I've seen you post as well!.

best regards, ~Doug

Doug,
Thanks for the compliments. Corn snakes are my passion. Don't get me wrong I love all snakes in general, but the cornsnakes are on top of the list for me !!

Anyway, the Extreme IS lighter in coloration than what is showed in the pic. Not quite as light a yours though !!
Very Nice !!

Hey Shannon,
Thanks for the compliment. Man it's been a long time. How have you been? Good I hope.

Anyway, I got a bunch of Hondos and some Sinaloans from Rob & Louise. They were needing more room for other projects, so I took them all over here.

Are ya heading for Daytona this year? If so, we'll have to hook up man !!

Mike,
As far as I know, he still produces them and I believe he produced some Apricot Hypos as well.
The normal colored Hypos are REALLY coming out nice. It just took a few years of selective breeding.
I'm sure in a couple years from now the Apricots will be AWESOME !!!

What's up Mike !!
I've been alright. After going through that Katrina mess down in Louisiana, things are back to normal. I went ahead and relocated to NE Alabama. In the mountains now and above sea level.........LOL
I've got another collection going and loving it !!
I missed EVERYTHING with the reptiles and now I'm back in action !!

How about you?

Walter

Ive been really good but busy with work and all. You know how it is.....No shortages of Murder in NYC. (despite what the papers say, LOL) For several months now I have been quietly stalking these guys in the milksnake forums and the those in the Kingsnake forums as well. I have been carefully picking up a few locality based Kings and Milks to keep me occupied as my Boas breed. I miss talking shop with you guys. I remember when you first got hit with that storm. Man that seemed like yesterday. I'm glad you're back on your feet and doing what you do best, BREEDING! Anyway my friend, be well. Talk to you soon. Mike

Glad to hear you are getting a few colubrids. Now we just need you to get back into some high end corns and you will be set...........LOL

Yeah, it does seem like the storm was just yesterday. It's really wild that it's been over two years now and when we make trips back to the home town, it's nowhere near being back to what it was.

Take care my friend and keep in touch !!

Hard to tell from a photo if its a "low end" extreme as you describe given the variability in lighting, etc., but it looks like a great looking snake regardless!

Thanks for sharing,

Dave

Thanks for the compliment Dave.
I'll have to try and get some better pics. Some that are closer to it's actual color.

Awesome snake you got there !!
