What size Powersun bulb should I get??

Jack31081 Aug 25, 2003 11:17 PM

I've had my veiled in a self-built 3'x4'x5' (lxwxh) cage for about a month now and the regular UV strip light isn't cutting it any more. It only throws UV about a foot from the bulb, leaving 4 feet of my cage untouched.

I'd like to get a Powersun MV bulb, but don't know which size to get.

What size would be best for my cage? Also, how far should the bulb (the one you've chosen) be from his main basking spot to keep him from getting burned??

Thanks.

Hi Jack,

We find that for most applications, the 100w is the least to cause worries about burning or over-heating. We hang the bulbs about 6-8" above the top of the enclosure - checking the temp under the bulb in case it needs further adjustment. If you have wire mesh on top, it can heat it up too. If you have plastic mesh - it could melt it. So use care when installing these lights.

Hope this helps some.
