I keep my crickets in large blue tubs I get from Walmart. I store 2,000 in each tub. I cut a large area out of the lids and use duct tape to put window screen over the hole. In each tub I put a layer of paper towel tubes covering 3/4 of the floor space. Then I have a sponge in a dish, 3 large jar lids of grain food, and an apple cut into eigthts. I then put the eggs cartons that come with the crickets on top of the paper towel tubes. I turn each 45 degrees to each other so they don't interlock. I change the sponge and apples at least every 3 days. My crickets will last about a month until they stink and I have to put them into a clean container. Hopefully they are long fed out by then.
The tubs are kept in my laundry room which is about 65 all the time.
