hi everyone, i need some help.

trevorbennett Aug 26, 2003 12:00 AM

i know it has been asked many times, but, my newest pets, my first dragons, wont eat any veggies out of their dish. they are a year and a half old and they will eat some lettuce and other veggies out of the dish, but they won't eat it if it's in the dish. they won't even eat supers from the dish! crix, no! nothing! they will take food from your hand or tweezers sometimes though, but i need help getting them to eat out of they're dish. i know that some people say put the worms in the dish with the veggies but that doesn't work with these guys. i've tried not feeding them for a day then trying it, but that didn't work either. they came from a guy who only fed them mice. no vegies! so, i'm kinda trying to rescue them. but they aren't cooperateing. they did eat one of the leaves off of a spider plant that i got them today(no pesticides). they both ate one. but, that's about it. can anyone off er some help?? thanx in advance!

Did you try a different dish? Maybe they don't like that one. Did you try to put it on a plate? Maybe they can't see in the dish.

Also, did you ever get a fecal done on your sick male?

Hi
I know mine are kind of spoiled, but I let the veggies kind of fall into their dish, when they see it coming down they run to get it. I started doing that to get the babies to eat greens, it worked for them. I don't have any trouble getting my older ones to eat their greens so I don't really know if that will work, one other thing, at our local petstore, they have a jitterbug bowl, it like vibertates so what ever in it moves, you might try that, I can't remeber how much they cost, but it was neat looking, something like that might work
Good luck

I had a non veggie eater at one time. What worked for me was to blend the greens with water so they would go through an eyedropper. I dripped it on his nose and he evidentally aquired a taste for them that way. Before long, he realized the greens in the bowl tasted the same as what I was giving him through the dropper.

they will either run to the other end if they don't want any more, or they will shake their heads like crazy, i think they're saying no! or they'll just close their eyes. thanx though for the idea.

t eat. i am going to try it though. i'm going to try everything that was suggested. thanx again!

First off, stop feeding them lettuce! It has absolutely zero nutritional value and just takes up space in their tummies that calcium rich greens like Collard greens & Kale provide. I'm more concerned with seeing the "lettuce" word in your post than I am about them not eating from the dish.

The reply suggesting you let the greens fall into the dish while they're watching is what I've always done for my boy. The motion of the green seems to grab his attention much better than the color.

feeding romaine , radiccicho (sp), strawberries cut up small, yellow squash cut up small, blackberries cut in half, kiwi cut up small, mango cut up small, grated carrots, some papya cut up small, and am also giving them spider plant leaves (no pesticides).

this is sufficient, i am sure. i also add other stuff to add variety.

any other questions???
