Zoomed Excavator Clay Burrowing Substrat

platinumtlc Jan 07, 2008 05:06 PM

Anyone have any experience with this? I have a collared lizard and use their desert sand, but she likes to dig and was wondering if this will be better for her? And can I use the sifter on this product to clean the poop?

The product is a sand mixture with some clay. When moist, the mix can be molded. When dry, it holds shape. The idea is really to mold burrows and let it dry. If you leave it dry and cruble it up, it is just soil that tends to cling together more than sand.

BTW, it says on the pkg that it shouldn't be used with undertank heat. The reason they say that is because thick layers of the substrate, when dry, will not heat effectively on top (from a heater below) and may trap enough heat below to crack the glass.
