New here!

Hey everyone,

I have been keeping an eye out on here, and finally decided to join. Looks like everyone is very helpful, which is always good to see!
I have always been into reptiles and always will be.
I just purchased a Nigerian Yellow Phase, not really sure how old he is. But he is a little bigger than the palm of my hand.
I have owned a Mali before, but this little guy is a terror.

I am feeding him a mix of Turnip greens, Organic spring mix ( rotating every other day, Endive, Escarole (rotating), and Mustard. I also add in some acorn squash. Rotating days I will either put in some string beans, a little carrot, parsnip, snap peas, or some belgian endive. About 2 days a week I put in a little bit of fruit. Sprinkle everything with some Miner A1 powder and every other day sprinkle with some ground up Mazuri Pellets.

Now for my question- Sorry that was so long

I have heard of adding some beans in a seperate dish?? Right now his substrate is millets. I found this recipe online of adding some green and red lentils, yellow and green split peas, millet, sesame seed, bee pollen granules, and some 15 bean soup (ground up) removing any red kidney beans??

Is all of that a good idea to feed him twice a week? along with the veggies??

Thanks for helping me out!!!
Any other ideas about what I should be feeding him, is greatly appreciated!

In regard to your question:

I have a small dish of dry beans available in the tank with my Mali Uromastyx at all times. I usually try to include: baby limas, red kidneys, green and yellow split pea, as well as white navy beans. Merlin seems to love munching on these beans and will usually pick out her favorites (split peas and limas).

Yes, the crushed bean mix is a great way to add fiber and protein to the diet, and they usually love it. Don't overdo it, though. I make up a jarful at a time and keep it in the fridge and use it as I need it.

Tangopandaucf, I would stop feeding the red kidney beans. They contain a toxic agent when uncooked (toxic for people, too).

A small amount twice a week should be fine I would think.

I'm not entirely sure if they are kidney beans, they just look like them. However, Merlin doesn't ever seem to eat them. She tends to pick out her favorites, the baby limas and the split peas.
