I'd like to tag on an extra line of questions for whoever has the pictures to answer this post:

1. What sort of ratios of pastel mojave have you been producing from pastel X mojave?

I know that 1:4 is expected but I also remember that when The Snakekeeper first started trying to produce one they had apparent incredibly bad luck. It got me wondering if for some reason one morph tends to hide the other some times so my follow up question is:

2. Have breeding results of the offspring from pastel X mojave shown that any that at first looked like just pastel or just mojave where really pastel mojave (i.e. are all pastel mojave obvious and the typical type)?

3. Also, how about breeding results from the obvious pastel mojavies? When bred to a normal are you getting the expected 25% normal, 25% pastel only, 25% mojave only, and 25% obvious pastel mojave?

Thanks!!

Here is one pic of one of my two pastaves produced from one clutch (only becuase I don;t know how to post two pics) of six which answers a few questions. Also, when you see a pastave head poke out of an egg, you certainly know you're looking at a pastave baby and not a pastel or a mojave.
From one six egg clutch from pastel X mojave, I produced 1.1 pastaves, 1.1 mojaves, 0.1 pastels, and 0.1 normals. The opposite odds of the Sutherlands.

Love the Pastaves. I hope I hit those sweet odds with my pairing this year.

And just for fun. (inspired by the Snake Keepers)

The Mojo male has been backed up by my Pastel male so it should be interesting if I get eggs.

Hi Jeff,...Personally I like the Mo-Tel name better. Saw that name in McCurleys book. Cracked me up. Wonder what a super pastave would look like. Super Pastel Mojave that is. Super mojave is another white snake. hmmm..........................Lee

So if you breed pastave to pastave, the offspring that are genotypically super mojave pastel are they just phenotypically BEL?

HI Jeff, Pastave x Pastave. You can get Super pastels, Super Pastel Mojave, Pastave, Super Mojave(BE Leucy), Super pastel super Mojave, Pastel Super Mojave, Mojave, and normal. Chances are it would be very difficult to tell a Super mojave from a pastel super mojave maybe even the double homozygous. I doubt the Double Homozygous would have the purple-ish head of the Super Mojave. Pretty hard to say. The proof would be in the pudding. Breeding one of the Super mojave ???? to a normal. If 100% straight mojave then it is simply a super mojave if 50% pastave 50% mojave then it was a pastel Super mojave. if all the babies are pastave you hit the jackpot a Double homozygous baby SUPER SUPER!!..And a fantastic breeding tool!!.........Lee
